Entry henhouse
The Nest
A compact, elevated henhouse for a first flock. The run sits beneath, the hens above, and the whole thing reads as one considered object in the garden.

The henhouse
Designed and built in our workshop with shou sugi ban cedar, matte black hardware and the considered architectural details that define every Modern Hen install.
The installation
We handle the full build on your property: site assessment, ground prep, predator-proofing, henhouse assembly and the final walkthrough. Typically two days on site.
The first month of care
Your first month of our Bronze membership is included, so feed and bedding arrive on schedule and you have us on call from day one.
Total: $9,500
Why we do the installation ourselves
The structure is half the work. The other half is the predator-proofing, the leveling on California's hillside lots, the ground prep that keeps the henhouse standing for fifteen years, and the small details that don't show up in a render. Self-installed kits fail at these details, often within the first season. We build and install as one job because they're one job.

The install
We build and install as one job.
01
We visit
We walk your backyard, find the light, and confirm siting against your setbacks and the sun.
02
We build
We build and install on site, leveled, anchored and predator-proofed. Typically a day or two.
03
We settle the flock
We bring the hens, set the routines, and the care begins. You keep the morning gather.

The finish
One finish, made to last.
Every Modern Hen install is charred shou sugi ban cedar with a warm cedar accent face and matte black hardware. One finish, held across all three henhouses, so every install reads as a Modern Hen install and weathers beautifully for years.
The ongoing care
Then we tend it.
Your first month of care is included. After that, a concierge who knows hens looks after the flock on a schedule you set. Feed and bedding on time, seasonal changes handled, and a vet line when something needs a closer look.
